Engine supply shortages intensified, but Boeing insisted that it would not build gliders

Share with friends and circles of friends with wechat scanning QR code < / P > < p > < p > news on July 18. On Sunday, local time, senior executives of the U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing said that the company was trying to solve the shortage of engines, semiconductors and other parts. Although the problem seems to change every month, the supply problem is far from being solved

Stan deal, head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, said on the eve of the Farnborough international air show that the company was trying to cope with the logistics chaos and the shortage of skilled mechanics caused by the COVID-19

however, Boeing has formed a practice to deal with the pressure of CFM supply shortage from engine manufacturers, that is, to postpone the production of 737 Max turbofan engine. Cfm is a joint venture between General Electric of the United States and Safran Sa of France. Deere said, "we will never make a glider." This is an aerospace industry term used to describe an aircraft without an engine

this is in sharp contrast to its competitor Airbus, which has produced about 20 a320neo Gliders in its global factories by the end of May. Although the European aircraft manufacturer is promoting its plan to increase the production of narrow body aircraft to a record 65 aircraft per month by the middle of next year, Boeing has taken a more cautious approach to the 737 Max under the close attention of U.S. regulators

Boeing is currently stabilizing its production at about 31 aircraft per month because it is trying to match the production pace of the 737 max with the intermittent arrival of components, such as the leap turbofan engine used in jet aircraft. Deere admitted that Boeing underestimated the pressure on its employees and suppliers caused by layoffs during the epidemic

Deere also said that once the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approves the resumption of delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the company is ready to start accelerating the production of 787 Dreamliner. He said that as this milestone approaches, Boeing is pushing suppliers to increase recruitment efforts

although a dedicated team of engineers is studying Boeing's next new aircraft, the company is not in a hurry to take action against Airbus's a321neo. Deere said, "we are not in a hurry to build another new aircraft. We will only launch new products at the right time."

Boeing is cooperating with FAA to certify the 737 Max 10, and is ready to cooperate with Congress to extend the deadline so that the company can bring the 737 Max 10 to the market without cockpit redesign < p > Dave Calhoun, CEO of Boeing, recently warned that if Boeing was forced to add new crew alarm technology, it might abandon the max 10 plan. But Deere said on Sunday, "this is unlikely for us. Our commitment to our customers is to make this aircraft certified." (small)
